Phillip Island is located 140 kilometres South-East of the city of Melbourne, a 90 minute drive via the City Link and upgraded South Gippsland & Bass Highways.. Phillip Island encompasses 26 by 9 kilometres of land, with a permanent community of 9,500 residents, experiencing an influx to over 50,000 visitors during the summer. Throughout the year, the Phillip Island region receives an average of over 3.5 million visitors making it one of Australia’s most popular single tourism destinations.
Phillip Island is essentially a tourist orientated region, Well known as a holiday destination, Phillip Island is well know for the Grand Prix Circuit and the Fairy penguins, The Penguins in particular attract many local, interstate and overseas visitors annually.
The Phillip Island region hosts over 100 kilometres of coastline, boasting pristine surfing and swimming beaches. The area has a diverse ecosystem, boasting lush beaches, as well as tranquil wetland and unique wildlife areas.
The Isle of Wight Hotel Resort is prominently located in Cowes on the south western corner of the Esplanade and Bass Avenue, opposite the foreshore and jetty. Surrounding developments include residential units, tourist accommodation and commercial uses. A key feature of the property is its northern facing position with direct water views.
Access to the island is via a road bridge at San Remo. In addition passenger ferry services are available from Hastings on the Mornington Peninsula; there is also an airport on the island.
